WATER SPORTS

Banff protects the headwaters of the North Saskatchewan which is a Canadian Heritage River and the Bow River. There  is good rafting in Banff National Park on the Bow River. The trips are not long, approximately one to three hours in length but they are very scenic. Below you will find some of the rafting companies in and around Banff.

There are 480 bodies of water in the park, many of them glacier-fed with the spectacular turquoise color of Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, and Peyto Lake which are 3 of the most well known in the park.

The canoeing is limited in the park but you can rent canoes from the boathouse at Chateau Lake Louise and do some quiet paddling on Lake Louise. Lake Minnewanka is also a popular recreational area and is the largest lake in the park
