Each of the major Gulf Islands has an outdoor retailer, which caters to local and visiting adventurers and nature lovers. You'll find a wide variety of outdoor clothing along with an extensive array of outdoor gear lining their shelves.

  
 

Cycles and kayaks can be rented from many of these shops and guiding and instruction are often available. These outlets are also the best place to acquire critical local knowledge on the areas wildlife, trials, kayak routes and conditions.

The islands also have their share of outdoor clubs and associations which maintain trails and work as advocates to ensure that sports and nature areas are kept open to enthusiasts. Many of the trials, parks and recreational areas have been set aside because of the tireless work of these groups. Make a point of pitching in with some volunteer work, or perhaps a donation, to ensure that the their efforts can continue.
