From Hwy 401, take Hwy 25 south to Steeles
Avenue, west on Steeles to Appleby Line, south on
Appleby for 3km. From Q.E.W., take Appleby Line
north; 1 km north of Derry Road on top of
escarpment. 45 minute drive from Toronto and
Hamilton.

Location: Outside of the town of Bonnechere
southwest of Pembroke 37km Size in Hectares or
Square km: 1,198 Hectares At this site you will
see an excellent example (one of the only in the
province) of an underground braided river system.
This formation is found in a fossil rich Ordovian
limestone formation. The site is situated on a 15
acres of land adjacent to the Bonnechere River
There are 114 campsites available from mid-May
through Labour Day.
Collingwood Scenic Caves

DIRECTIONS: Drive west on First Street to the
First Street extension. Continue west on Mountain
Road which becomes Grey Road 19. Turn left onto
Mountain Drive and a quick left onto Scenic Caves
Road. Follow this road to the top of the hill.

Bat Cave

About 40km northeast of Thunder Bay The natural
environment of the reserve is considered to be so
vulnerable that visitors are discouraged.
Entrance measures 20 metres wide by 2.5 metres at
its highest point, and the interior extends 13
metres horizontally from front to back. The cave
is home to at least four species of bat: the
little brown bat, the big brown bat, the rarer
Keen's long-eared bat, and the red bat. In the
summer the cave is a roosting site, and in winter
a hibernation site. Disturbances may prove
harmful to these small winged mammals, especially
