| There is
excellent hiking in the Canoe Robson Valley and just
around the visitors center there are a wide variety of
interesting walks and self-guided interpretive trails
available. These trails are well marked and maintained
for an easy enjoyable hike. In the Corridor, there are a
number of short, interesting hikes. Water falls, salmon
viewing and self-guided interpretive walks can all be
found along this scenic drive.
There is an interesting
hike in the forest at the Lucerne Campground called
Labrador Tea Trail. This is a self-guided trail. The
Robson River Campground also offers some great hikes.
The Yellowhead Mountain
trail is a much more agressive hike and starts at the
east end of Whitney Lake and switchbacks steeply up the
Yellowhead Mountain. After about 2 km of hiking there is
a a viewpoint with excellent views of the surrounding
mountains and lakes then a the 6.5 km mark you will come
across a system of sub alpine meadows. This is a hearty,
but very rewarding day hike. The elevation gain you can
expect on this trail is 800 meters in a distance of 8.5
km so fitness is essential.
