Restaurants and Bars in the Toronto Region
Way back when, Toronto had a reputation for rather mundane restaurants and food, boy have things ever changed! Toronto has attracted chefs with international reputations and dining in this town is amongst the best in North America. Along with fine French cuisine, the city is of course renown for its authentic ethic restaurants given it is the most ethnically diverse city anywhere. You'll find a cross section of international cuisine, with representation from almost every country.

Italian, Greek, Mexican, Vietnamese, Mongolian, Hungarian, Swiss, Chinese and the list hasn't even started yet. We are of the opinion that Toronto has the best Thai restaurants outside of Thailand and perhaps the largest number of them we've ever seen in a city this size.

Of course, there is standard fare available throughout the region, with excellent steak and seafood houses. The every popular theatre district has a wide variety of establishments, where you can have an excellent dinner then take in a show or there are plenty of dinner theatres you can choose from, allowing you to do both at the same time. Don't get the wrong idea, you'll also find lots of casual restaurants and bars as well, including the every popular brew pubs which are popping up everywhere in the city.
Reservations are highly recommended.

Once upon a time Canadian wines were suitable for cooking - period!. Now with our wineries bringing back gold medals from France, we can bring the bottles out of the kitchen with pride. Wineries are springing up all over the country, inspired by the success of our early pioneers in this area. Ontario's Niagara Peninsula is leading the way and encouraging other regions to follow - with great sucesss, we may add. Take the opportunity to visit one of the wineries, which offer tasting tours and often have wine bars and restaurants, we're sure you'll be impressed. Take note that some of the wineries also have accommodations, ranging from simple B&Bs to rooms in luxurious estates. Make a point of calling ahead for all of the details to avoid disappointment.
