Locales If you head up into the mountains
that immediately surround Vancouver you know what
you'll find - nothing and lots of it. Endless,
undeveloped backcountry stretching for hundreds
of kilometers. Backcountry skiers with the skills
and equipment (avalanche poles, shovels, beacons
as well as skins, backcountry skis and supplies)
will never have to cross thier own tracks again.

Garibaldi
Provincial Parks is within an hour of
Vancouver. It has several traverses
with a hut system and some good loops
for day skiers. Further up the road
towards Pemberton and Lilloette their
are perhaps a dozen other areas for
experts skiers. If you head east up
the Fraser Valley you can cut some
tracks in Manning Provincial Park.
Futher into the interior their are
dozens of other areas to choose from
with some of the best skiing in the
world.

Cross Country Skiing Whistler is more than a
downhill center their are over 35km of cross
country trails as well, much of which is in the
Lost Lake area. Also in the Sea to Summit
corridor you'll find Cypress Bowl which has
excellent skiing, and even has some lighted
trails. Just a little closer to the city you'll
find Grouse Mountain also offers some good trials
for the kick and glide set.

Heli
Skiing & Boarding Part of the thrill
in heli-skiing comes even before you
reach your kick-off point. On a clear day
in the mountains the view is unparalled.
Of course the exhileration of carving
through waist deep powder is difficult to
even be verbalized. Canada's backcountry
skiing and boarding is amongst the finest
in the world. If your skills are honed
and you love the outdoors don't think of
passing it up!
